About

The Arch of Triumph Bucharest was inspired by Paris's famous Arc de Triomphe and is frequently referred to as the "little brother" of the French monument. This impressive structure was first erected in 1922, commemorating Romania's victory in the First World War and honoring the bravery of its soldiers. It was constructed in on the site of an earlier wooden arch built in 1878 to commemorate Romania's independence from the Ottoman Empire.

The arch was designed by architect Petre Antonescu in a neoclassical style, with a height of 27 meters and a base of 25 by 11.5 meters. The arch, which is decorated with sculptures, exquisite carvings, and artistic features, displays grandeur and timelessness.

The Arch of Triumph is not just a symbol of Romania's past, but also a location for significant events in the present. Every year on December 1st, Romania's National Day, a military parade under the arch is performed, with the participation of the president, prime minister, and other officials. Visitors to the arch can also enjoy a panoramic view of the city from its terrace.

Climbing to the top of the Arch of Triumph is mandatory for anyone looking for a bird's-eye view of Bucharest's beauty. The ascent of the stairs may appear difficult, but the panoramic views that await at the top are well worth the effort. From this location, one can see the city's stunning skyline, which is filled with both old and new architectural marvels.

The Arch of Triumph Bucharest is located on the Kiseleff Road, in the northern part of Bucharest, near other attractions such as the Village Museum, the Herastrau Park and the Peasant Museum. You can easily reach it by public transportation. If you want to learn more about Romania’s history and culture, you should not miss this impressive monument.
