This is an Eastern Orthodox church built in Byzantine, Baroque, and Brâncovenesc style (a Romanian architectural style).
The church was built in 1720-1722 by Iordache Kretzulescu, a prominent figure of the time, and his wife Safta, a daughter of Constantin Brancoveanu, one of the most important rulers of Wallachia.
