About

The Orthodox church dedicated to St. Peter and Paul was built in 1769, during the reign of Empress Maria Theresa and her son Joseph, according to the inscription above the entrance in Cyrillic letters. It was built on the site of a 1601 wooden church.

In 1769, a second church was built, which still stands today with minor modifications.

It is one of the few churches in Tara Barsei that has been completely painted on the inside and outside. Two small portions remain today, to the right and left of the entrance doors, as well as a narrow strip under the cornice all around.

The church also has two very valuable large icons (40/50 cm) painted on wood in 1789 and kept under glass for protection today, as well as a large library with old books of worship.
