About
The Valea Cetății Cave is about 3 kilometers from Rasnov on the Valea Cetății road towards Poiana Brasov. It was discovered in 1949 after the entrance to the cave was unblocked by a hydraulic explosion, hence the name Fundata Cave.
The main attraction is the Great Hall, which has a height of more than 20 meters and an area of about 2500 square meters, and contains stalactites and stalagmites of various sizes, including one that is 2 meters tall.
The galleries of the Valea Cetății Cave were initially filled with water, causing erosion and thus widening the spaces.
The Valea Cetății Cave is open to the public and has visitor access points, as well as sidewalks, railings, walkways, bumpers, stairs, and a lighting system. The underground landscape is breathtaking.
The cave entrance is about 10-15 minutes walk from the roadside parking lot. Be advised that the path to the cave can be sometimes steep.
